Several amendments proposed as part of the limited Critical Areas Ordinance Update affect the same sections of Part 20.25H as the Council's prior Shoreline Master Program (SMP) Conformance Amendments, adopted by the Council with Resolution No. 8922.
The City Council adopted a resolution on May 18, 2015 expressing their intent to adopt new policies and regulations contained within the proposed Shoreline Master Program, including conformance amendments for consistency, and authorizing the submittal of those polices, regulations and conformance amendments to the state Department of Ecology. Staff prepared a transmittal letter, sent to Ecology along with all of the following attachments:
The Department of Ecology has notified the city that the SMP submittal is complete and ready to move into the formal review process. This does not mean the SMP has been approved; only that it meets the criteria for a complete submittal. Ecology will begin the formal review process for determining whether the submittal is consistent with The Shoreline Management Act (RCW 90.58) and the SMP Guidelines (WAC 173-26). A public comment period is required and interested parties will be notified. The required 30-day public comment period time has not been determined yet. As soon as dates are established, Ecology will notify the city and all interested parties.
