Spring 2015 Community Academy accepting applications
The Bellevue Police Department is proud to announce it is accepting applications for the 2015 spring Community Academy.
The Community Academy is a 12-week program for Bellevue residents and those who work in Bellevue to become acquainted with how their police department operates. On completion of the academy, graduates will have gained a better understanding of the law enforcement role in the criminal justice system, and an appreciation for the many challenges facing law enforcement in today's complex society.
The Citizens' Academy is a primarily classroom based, and the lessons provide hands on learning about law enforcement. A few of the courses covered include Patrol Procedures, Firearms, 911 Communications, Narcotics, K-9, Major Crimes Investigations, Major Accident Investigations, Defensive Tactics, and Hostage Negotiations.To participate, you must be willing to commit to attend the three-hour sessions which will be every Thursday night from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. starting March 5 and ending May 21. Most classes will be held at the Bellevue Police Department and the academy is free of charge.
