Triathlon to shift lanes on West Lake Sammamish Parkway this Sunday, July 9
Posted on 07/06/2017

A new race, called the Eastside Triathlon, will require lane shifts on West Lake Sammamish Parkway, from Southeast 34th Street to Northeast 24th Street, on Sunday, July 9. The race starts and ends at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah.

The lane shift will be in place from 6:45 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m. Sunday. During that time, the northbound and southbound lanes will shift a few feet to the west to create a northbound bicycle lane for the triathlon. Residents, who reside along both sides of the parkway where the traffic modifications are in place, will not be able to make left turns from driveways or streets during that time.

The triathlon will start at 6:30 a.m. with a .75 mile swim at Sunset Beach in Lake Sammamish State Park, followed by a 22.8-mile bicycle ride clockwise around the lake, and ending with a four-mile run on trails inside the park. Organizers expect 400 to 500 participants.

Sponsored by Raise the Bar, LLC, the race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. For more information about the event, visit the Eastside Triathlon website,
