Starting at 5 a.m., Dec. 29, drivers will pay an electronic toll to cross the State Route 520 bridge. The state Department of Transportation is urging travelers to get ready by setting up a Good To Go! account.
Bellevue Transportation officials caution residents to be prepared for changes in traffic patterns on local streets and SR 520, Interstate 405 and Interstate 90 after tolling starts. Travelers may want to consider other commute options to save money on tolls.
To help customers register and activate Good To Go! accounts, WSDOT has extended call center hours and hired extra customer service staff. Customers can purchase the popular sticker passes at Costco, Safeway, Fred Meyer and QFC, and activate them online. Passes will not work unless they are registered on an active account. Drivers should also check their accounts for up-to-date credit card and license plate information.
Buses, registered vanpools and teleworkers are all exempt from paying tolls and offer commuters economical alternatives. King County Metro provides information about tolling alternatives.
Downtown Bellevue employers can receive free assistance about commute options for employees through the Commute Advantage program. For information, email CommuteAdvantage@cywb.org or call 425-453-0644.
