Lanes on 116th Ave NE to close for construction

BELLEVUE – With construction of an extension of Northeast 10th Street now underway, just one northbound lane and one southbound lane on 116th Avenue Northeast will be open the nights of March 14, 15 and 16.

When the entire project is complete in 2009, 10th Street will extend from downtown across a highway overpass to 116th Avenue, passing between Overlake Hospital Medical Center's new South Tower and the new Group Health Bellevue Medical Center. The first phase, targeted for completion in April 2008, includes the section on the medical campus and widening 116th.

The construction March 14-16 will take place at night, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. This work is necessary for the relocation of a wastewater main by the city's contractor and will allow city crews to replace a water main line valve in 116th Avenue.

Pedestrian access along the east side of 116th will not be affected. A water service interruption is expected at Whole Foods.
