Bellevue has garnered more accolades for its budgeting work. The Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada recently awarded a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to Bellevue for its 2013-2014 Budget –- confirmation of the city’s continuing strong business practices.
In addition to becoming a repeat winner of the Presentation Award (the 27th straight year), for the first time the Association gave Bellevue a special citation for its work to incorporate performance measures into the budget document. Only about 2 percent of the 1,500 states, counties and cities that receive the Presentation Award receive the special citation.
"Our Budget One process is extremely collaborative and it's great to be recognized for our efforts," said the city's Finance Director Jan Hawn. "With direction from the Council and input from the public, we produced a document that not only tracks the dollars and cents, but spells out what we plan to achieve on behalf of the community."
