520 to close this weekend

Over the weekend of Sept. 21-24, both directions of State Route 520 will be closed between Montlake Boulevard and Interstate 405, so state Department of Transportation contractors can make improvements related to the bridge replacement. Culvert work around 108th Avenue will also require that road to be closed between Northup Way and SR 520 throughout the weekend.

Details of the SR 520 closure:

  • Date: Sept. 21-24
  • When: Beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday, all ramps, the floating bridge and highway will close. Everything will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday morning.
  • Where: Both directions of SR 520 and all ramps between Montlake Boulevard and I-405. SR 520 will remain open between Montlake Boulevard and I-5.

Expect noisy work this weekend
Crews will work around the clock during the closure to install the fish culvert and perform drainage work. Nearby residents can expect to hear heavy machinery such as dump trucks, hoe rams and loaders and back up alarms from equipment.
