On Tuesday, March 9, residents can support Bellevue's popular Parks Wellness Walks events just by shopping at Bellevue Whole Foods Market. The store at 888 116th Ave. NE will donate 5 percent of the day's net sales for the walks, which highlight the best of city's art, parks and natural and historic sites.
The walks are sponsored by Bellevue Parks & Community Services, in partnership with the American Volkssport Association and Whole Foods Market Bellevue to encourage opportunities to explore some of the city's 94 miles of trails. 2010 Park Walks include:
Little Lake-to-Lake ~ Earth Day 5K Walk Date: Wed., April 21 Time: 1 to 6 p.m. (registration 1 to 6 p.m.) Location: Lake Hills Greenbelt Park, 156th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 16th Street
Bellevue Downtown Art & Park 10K Walk, Connecting People, Parks and Art Date: Sat., May 22 Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Registration: 8 a.m. to 12 noon) Location: Northwest Arts Center, 9825 NE 24th St.
Lake-to-Lake Greenway Trail 15K Walk, Connecting People, Parks and Nature Date: Sat., Sept. 18 Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Registration: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.) Location: Mercer Slough Blueberry Farm, 2380 Bellevue Way
Lakemont Lewis Creek 5K Walk Date: Sun., Oct. 10 Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (registration 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) Location: Lewis Creek Visitor Center, 5808 Lakemont Blvd.
All walks are free and registration takes place the morning of the event at the start location. Please note that some of the walks are not suitable for small children and strollers.
