Single-Family Building Permit Applications
All of these permits are combination permits, which include most clearing and grading, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, and may also include demolition work, if required.
New Single-Family – Construction of a new residence.
Addition – Addition of attached floor space to an existing dwelling (living space, deck, deck with spa, garage, carport, etc.) Also, all buildings and structures not attached to the house (garages, storage and equipment sheds, retaining walls greater than 4 feet in height, etc.) Additions greater than 3,000 gross square feet require a new single-family permit.
Accessory Structure in Water – A bulkhead, new dock, enlarging of an existing dock, boathouse, or boatlift, etc. Docks not exceeding $10,000 are exempt from this review.
Accessory Structure near Shore – Repairing or replacing a dock, bulkhead, or boathouse with like for like.
Pool/Spa – Any single-family-constructed pool used for swimming or bathing that is 24 or more inches deep and all in-ground and hot tubs that are not combined with another building permit.
Remodel – Any change within an existing dwelling that does not increase the area and roof sheathing that is being replaced or altered.
