The Neighbor Link Program which began in 2009 was designed to bring neighbors together in a spirit of community, service and celebration, encouraging and supporting neighborhood efforts that build healthy, lasting connections. Neighbors who know one another, are involved in their community and the city at large, and make a difference to improve the quality of life and safety for all of their residents. Since the program began, Outreach has sponsored over 250 neighborhood celebrations, raised over 2,000 pounds of food, and donated hundreds-of-dollars to charity.
Neighborhood Green Clean-up
What could you and your neighbors do in a day to enhance the “green” appearance of your neighborhood? The Neighbor Link – Green-Clean Up is designed to promote weekend large scale green debris clean-ups of residential single family homes and surrounding lawn and sidewalk areas, with a city sponsored dumpster placed in your neighborhood for a weekend. In addition to the benefits of an improved neighborhood appearance, clean-ups provide an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other by working towards a common goal, learn about property and landscape maintenance and better understand the city’s code compliance.
The program will run from May-October. The program is designed by the neighborhood, with a minimum participation of residents or homes, and requires an application. Dumpster placement must meet review and safety criteria of Neighborhood Outreach and the Transportation Department.
