Northeast Fourth Street Extension

The Northeast Fourth Street Extension Project, part of the Wilburton Connections effort, is designed to work in conjunction with the other two road projects (widening 120th Avenue Northeast and extending Northeast Sixth Street) to boost mobility between downtown, the Bel-Red corridor and the Overlake area.

This project will extend Northeast Fourth Street from between 116th and 120th avenues Northeast, crossing the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe railroad corridor. It will create a new five-lane arterial road with two travel lanes in each direction plus a center turn lane where needed. More about the project, including information on funding and environmental impacts, along with a map, is provided in the project description sheet.

The project will be designed to allow future use of the railroad corridor for a pedestrian-bike trail or transit. When completed, the new roadway section is projected to relieve congestion at nearby intersections, improve travel times and provide alternatives for vehicles, transit, freight, pedestrians and bicycles.
