TV magazine again finalist for awards

For the fifth straight year, Bellevue Television's "It's Your City" program has been named a finalist for 2009 National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) government programming awards.

The show is a finalist in the magazine format series category, a category the program won in 2006 and 2007 and placed second in 2008 and 2005.

A segment of It's Your City featuring boating safety also is a finalist in the public safety category.

It's Your City is a monthly magazine show featuring city programs and services. The show is produced under the direction of Tim Waters, city communications director; John Burwell, executive producer; Robin Steel Haaseth, executive producer/host; David Bruckner, producer/director and David Richardson, editor.

The show airs several times each month on Bellevue Television (Channel 21), and can also be seen on online from the Bellevue TV page.

Bellevue TV is Bellevue's government access cable channel, featuring City Council meetings, arts, cultural, educational and other information for residents, businesses and visitors of Bellevue. It also provides coverage of the Legislature, local community events and special programming on issues of importance to residents.

The channel is operated through a partnership of the city and Bellevue College, who share the costs of operating a state-of-the-art studio facility. Student crews provide staffing support, while gaining hands-on training.

NATOA issues government programming awards each year to recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. NATOA receives more than 1,000 entries annually representing more than 150 agencies throughout the United States and Canada. The 2009 awards will be presented at the annual NATOA conference on Oct. 2, in New Orleans.
