Residents and others interested in learning about city plans to create a new waterfront park at Meydenbauer Bay are invited to an open house Tuesday, May 15, at Bellevue City Hall.

After several years of acquiring land between Meydenbauer Beach Park and the Meydenbauer Marina, the City of Bellevue has begun crafting a master plan for the new park. The aim is to transform a quarter-mile stretch of shoreline on Lake Washington into a park accessible to the public for a variety of recreational uses.

Tuesday's meeting will be 4 to 8 p.m., in the main lobby.

As part of this planning, the city will also be studying land use patterns in the area between Downtown Park and Meydenbauer Bay to determine how redevelopment of that area can occur in a way that reconnects it with the waterfront.

The current project schedule calls for completion of land use planning by the end of 2007. Specific park design alternatives are to be drafted in 2008. Both the Parks & Community Services and Planning & Community Development departments are responsible for the project.
