Unusual display at Downtown Park highlights food drive

Hopelink grocery bagHopelink, the Eastside's largest social services agency, used 5,000 orange grocery sacks to spell out "hope" on the lawn at Downtown Park Thursday. The improv art was the centerpiece of a one-day food drive, with people encouraged to stop by, take a bag, fill it with groceries and return it to the park for collection by Hopelink.

The sheer size of the display was eye-catching, reflecting the high level of need, as the economic downturn takes its toll throughout the area.

The event is over, but Hopelink can still benefit from donations. Visit Hopelink and find out how you can help.
