If Liv and Lyla Coron seem very comfortable on stage in the Bellevue Youth Theatre's production of "Cinderella," there's a good reason. Their mother, Cynthia Geary, is a TV and movie actress nominated for an Emmy for her role as tavern owner Shelly Tambo in the hit 1990s television show "Northern Exposure."
Geary of Bellevue, currently filming a movie called "Ira Finkelstein's Christmas," says she is finding "absolute joy" watching Liv, 10, and Lyla, 5, participate in the BYT. "Cinderella" runs April 29 through May 1 at the Meydenbauer Theatre, 11100 NE Sixth St.
Geary praised the theater for giving everyone who auditions a part, seniors and people with disabilities as well as young people. "It is so inclusive," she noted. "Other places are very competitive and can be pretty superficial. Participants here come from all walks of life and everyone is welcome."
Geary, married to Robert Coron, will help out backstage during the show, but she said she is staying clear of the stage herself, to ensure the children in the show get the attention. Liv plays a school child and Lyla, a fairy.
Cinderella performances will take place:
- Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m.;
- Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and
- Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m.
