To help assist local families in need, the City of Bellevue is hosting a food collection drive Oct. 10 through Dec. 12.
Even in Bellevue's relatively strong economy, there are many people who need help providing food for their families. The working poor -- households reporting a steady source of income -- represent 62 percent of the households served by local food banks. Approximately 19 percent of children in the Bellevue School District qualify for free and reduced meal assistance.

Donated food will be sorted by volunteers and distributed at the Crossroads Community Holiday Dinner on Friday, Dec. 14, at Crossroads Community Center, 16000 NE 10th St.
