Comments on sculpture exhibition welcome

"Winter Mandala" by David Eisenhour stands outside City Hall.Provocative sculptures carrying a message about our connection to the environment are on view at Downtown Park and City Hall through Oct. 5. The city's Arts Commission is eager for feedback about the 2008 Bellevue Sculpture Exhibition, and people can easily offer their own reviews on a new page called "Your Review."

"Sculpted Green," the ninth biennial sculpture exhibition at Bellevue, features the work of 33 artists from Washington, Canada and across the U.S. Sculptures were not required to have green messages, but many artists embraced the theme, using salvaged materials, finding art inherent in nature or repositioning natural wood pieces in unusual contexts.

On the review page, people can check the sculptures they liked the best and comment on any of them. The Arts Commission will collect the comments and consider the input when it begins organizing the next exhibition, in 2010.

To give viewers as much opportunity as possible to see the sculptures and learn about them, the city website includes maps, artist profiles, multiple pictures of each work and audio clips that people can play on their MP3 players or mobile phones.
