The 2010 Census is coming in March. It's easy, safe and important for all Bellevue residents to participate.
Bellevue tracks population trends, using data from the American Community Survey, the U.S. Census and other sources.
- With a population of 120,600, Bellevue is the Eastside’s major urban population center. Bellevue is the fifth largest city in Washington. (State Office of Financial Management)
- Bellevue is an increasingly diverse community. Between 1990 and 2008, Bellevue’s population identified as Hispanic or of a non-white race rose from about 15 percent to 36 percent, and Bellevue’s foreign-born population increased from about 13 percent to just over 33 percent. Bellevue had the highest percentage of foreign born residents out of all of Washington's major cities in 2008. With over 25 percent of its population identified as Asian during 2006-2008, Bellevue had the highest proportion of Asians out of the 55 Washington places reported on in the 2006-2008 American Community Survey. (U.S. Census Bureau)
- Bellevue residents are highly educated. In 2008, 59 percent of Bellevue residents 25 years of age and older had at least a bachelor’s degree, and 59 percent in the workforce were employed in managerial and professional occupations. These percentages increased between 2000 and 2008, remaining higher than for residents in King County as a whole. (U.S. Census Bureau)
