The City Council Monday appointed new members to the committee that ensures major events in Bellevue are safe and have a limited impact on surrounding neighborhoods.
In 1994 the city adopted a special events policy to accommodate major events such as street fairs, parades and fundraiser walks while protecting public health and safety.
The Special Events Committee administers the policy, setting conditions and fees for special events permits. The 16-member committee (including city staff and neighborhood and business representatives) meets twice a month to review permit applications.
On Monday the council appointed Mike Ogliore of the Bellevue Downtown Association to represent the business community and Anastacia Rice to represent neighborhood interests.
