When the rain starts to fall, clogged storm drains are often the cause of flooding in Bellevue neighborhoods. All those leaves falling from the trees pile up fast over the grates.
City Utilities crews regularly clear storm drains as part of routine maintenance, but they can hardly reach all 20,000. Residents are encouraged to help prevent flooding in their neighborhoods by raking leaves and evergreen needles from storm drains themselves.
