A fire late Tuesday night at an East Bellevue condominium complex destroyed a car and heavily damaged a carport.
The owner of the condo, on the 200 block of 169th Avenue Northeast, reported the fire at 10:21 p.m. He said the fire's glow outside woke him. He was able to leave the condo safely after calling 911.
The first fire crew was able to stop the fire from spreading beyond the carport. However, despite minimal structural damage, there was some smoke damage in the unit.
A Bellevue fire investigator was looking over the scene Tuesday night. There was no preliminary cause to report. The homeowner said he was not sure how the fire could have started.
