Replacing older sewer mains with larger pipes to serve Wilburton's growing population is the last of the Bellefield sewer projects. To accommodate the project, one westbound lane on Southeast Eighth Street is closed, and there will be partial or complete closures of 114th Avenue Southeast between Main and Southeast Eighth streets through July.

Sewer work to impact westbound SE 8th Street

Sewer main replacement work by Bellevue Utilities will close the curb lane of westbound Southeast Eighth Street from 114th Avenue Southeast to 112th Avenue Southeast starting May 26 until October.

The improvements are needed to increase sewer capacity for the Wilburton area as it continues to grow and to replace aging infrastructure.

The public can expect the following traffic impacts:

  • Access to local businesses will be maintained.
  • All traffic movements will be maintained; however expect traffic delays with the lane reduction on westbound Southeast Eighth Street
  • The pedestrian and bike paths along the north curb lane will be closed.

As part of the sewer improvements along Southeast Eighth Street, construction crews will also begin installation of support pilings and shoring for the sewer pipe in early June. This will generate some noise.
