Artist's Statement:
"Big Leaf" comes from a large maple tree near Camano Island State Park that was damaged by a storm. The twisting tension of the trunk inspired me to explore the energy and beauty beneath the bark. Following the grain, I shaped the void then hand polished the surface and finished with natural oils and beeswax. The aim of my work is to unlock the forms in nature that resonate within us in a familiar way and make us pause.
