Police offer up-to-minute alerts through CrimeWeb

The Bellevue Police Department now offers residents and businesses a new way to learn about criminal activity in their neighborhoods. CrimeWeb.net is a free service through which residents can receive urgent crime or safety information by e-mail or text message.

People can sign up for messages concerning six general topics: missing children, missing adults, school incidents, community information, major crimes and homeland security. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time.

Crimeweb.net allows detectives and command staff to send up-to-the-minute information to subscribers. Messages can be targeted for neighborhoods.

Anyone who receives an alert can respond confidentially with a tip for investigators. The Police sent their first alert through CrimeWeb last week, concerning a robbery suspect, and received a tip within the first two hours.
