Bellevue women from different faiths and backgrounds will share stories about the foods they grew up with at a "Flavors of Diversity" program hosted by the Cultural Conversations group at the Crossroads Community Center on Nov. 8.
The event from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and a Dec. 6 ethnic potluck conclude a year of connecting for Cultural Conversations, a diverse group of women who meet for tea about once a month in an effort to become more connected with their community.
Organized by Bellevue's Neighborhood Outreach team, the group has engaged more than 50 women, many of them immigrants, since it was launched in 2010. A second Cultural Conversations group recently started in South Bellevue.
The Flavors of Diversity program is intended to help members understand each other's nutrition and eating customs, traditions from around the world. On Dec. 6, Cultural Conversations will host its second annual ethnic holiday potluck, noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Crossroads Community Center. Participants should bring food to share. They will be invited to tell stories about their traditions in small table discussions. Women who live or work in Bellevue are welcome.
Please RSVP for Flavors of Diversity or the Ethnic Potluck to Julie at 425-452-5372 or jellenhorn@bellevuewa.gov.
