In observation of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the City of Bellevue will lower its flags on Sunday. Firefighters and police officers will participate in a small ceremony in front of City Hall.
A fire ladder truck and its crew will assemble with a small detachment from the police department by City Hall's flag shortly before 10 a.m. The flag will be lowered at 9:59, and at 10 a minute of silence to honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 will be maintained.
The flags at all of Bellevue's nine fire stations will be lowered, with a minute of silence at each at 10 a.m. Flags will be raised at 5 p.m. at the fire stations, and at City Hall at 8 a.m., Monday.
