Natural Resource Week Educators

Days: May 22, 24 and 25, 2012	Hours: Vary

Age: Must be 18 or older

Primary Responsibilities:
Teach local fourth and fifth graders about natural resources for Natural Resource Week, an outdoor environmental education event. Each day students rotate through four stations where Natural Resource Week educators conduct learning activities on the subjects of forestry, wetlands and wildlife. The city is looking for interested environmental educators, interpreters and professionals to participate.

Training Details:
Each Natural Resource Week Educator delivers the same 45-minute presentation to four different groups of students (groups of 12-16). The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and all of the educators are invited to participate on any or all three days. The city will provide any supplies and assistance needed for a 45-minute activity (educators are encouraged to develop lesson plans specific to the goals of their organizations, but the city can provide lesson plans too). Refreshments will be provided for educators each day.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in environmental or science education among elementary school aged children.
Interest and understanding in wetland ecology, wildlife or forestry.
Desire to work outdoors in varied weather and site conditions.
