The center express lanes on Interstate 90 will be closed this weekend between Island Crest Way in Mercer Island and Bellevue Way in Bellevue so crews for the state Department of Transportation can install a drainage crossing. The lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The weekend's work is part of the second phase of Sound Transit and WSDOT's I-90 Two-Way Transit and HOV project, which will add outer high-occupancy vehicle lanes west- and eastbound on I-90. The two center lanes, now reversable express lanes for buses, carpools and vanpools, will be reserved for light rail.

New HOV on- and off-ramps on Mercer Island and will improve I-90 HOV access at Bellevue Way.
