The Root at City Hall

"The Root" is a massive bronze sculpture cast from the roots and trunk of a real old-growth cedar tree harvested in the 1800s. Created by Seattle artist Dan Corson, "Root" is 16 feet in diameter, 12 feet long and weighs nearly five tons. Installed Feb. 23, 2007, it is one of the major works of public art at City Hall. This photo gallery provides some varying perspectives of "The Root."
