Forum on preparing for, limiting climate change impacts

The future of the planet is in your hands. If climate change is in our future, how will Bellevue be affected? At a May 14 forum, experts will share current research and how residents can prepare for and limit local impacts.

The latest Neighborhood Forum, hosted by the city, Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m., in the Council Chambers in City Hall, will be a conversation about environmental sustainability. A panel of local experts from academia, science and business will explore how we can be good stewards of the environment in our neighborhoods.

The panelists are Kevin Wilhelm, CEO of Sustainable Business Consulting and author of "Return on Sustainability;" Lara Whitely Binder, outreach and adaptation specialist with the Climate Impacts Group at the University of Washington; Ross Mcfarlane, senior advisor at Climate Solutions; and Todd Myers, director of the Washington Policy Center's Center for the Environment.

The presentation will be followed by a moderated question-and-answer session with the audience.

Bellevue Neighborhood Forums are made possible with the generous support of neighborhood associations including Bellecrest Neighborhood Association, Conifer Crest Neighborhood Association, Highlands East II HOA, Horizon Crest Community Association, Horizon Heights Neighborhood Association, Newport Hills Community Club, Somerset Community Association, Sunset Community Association, Village on Main HOA and Woodridge Community Association.

The forum is free and open to the public. For more information, contact jellenhorn@bellevuewa.gov or Neighborhood Outreach staff at 425-452-6836, or see the event flyer.
