The new superintendent for Bellevue's public schools says "the sky's the limit" when it comes to collaboration with the city. In an exclusive interview for the city's Lake to Lake news show, Dr. J. Tim Mills talks about how he aims to make one of the nation's best school districts even better.
Lake to Lake is available for streaming from the Bellevue TV page and on Bellevue TV (Channel 21). City staff create and produce the show with help from Bellevue College students. This month's host is Robin Haaseth with the Parks & Community Services Department.
As children return to class this month, there's a new captain at the district's helm. Dr. Mills, who led the North Clackamas school district in Oregon before taking over in Bellevue this summer, said he was spending his first months on the job learning about the community and the schools. "I believe strongly in understanding our past before we start talking about our future," he explained.
In addition to the interview with Dr. Mills, the September Lake to Lake show features segments about:
- the expansion of the annual Lake to Lake Walk to include a Lake to Lake bike ride,
- the popular waterspray area at Crossroads Park; and
- a promotional video about the city from the city's marketing partner Visit Bellevue Washington.
