FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, August 23, 2012

Police vice unit continues enforcement

Last week, another round of "spa enforcement" took place in Bellevue. Undercover detectives infiltrated two spas. The first spa is in the area of Bellevue Way and Main Street; the second on the 16400 block of Northeast Eighth Street.

A total of four women were arrested, with charges ranging from massage without a license to prostitution. These raids were conducted with assistance from the state Department of Health, as well as the federal Department of Homeland Security.

The Bellevue Police Department is working closely with the property management companies to facilitate the eviction of spas offering illegal services. These investigations are on-going.

Thus far, the Vice Unit has made more than 55 arrests for various violations, closed 12 spas and continues to move forward to bring all spas in the city into compliance with state laws and regulations.
