This morning a large police presence was seen for several hours on 100 Avenue N.E. between N.E. 4th and N.E. 8th streets in Bellevue. A 39 year old Bellevue resident threatened to hurt himself apparently upset over an ended relationship with his girlfriend. Officers were dispatched to his apartment where the man refused to come out of his apartment and remained barricaded.
Several attempts were made by crisis negotiators to contact the man via bull horn, phone calls, texts and Facebook. All were unsuccessful.
At approximately 10:45 a.m. the male was located in the apartment deceased. A death investigation continues at this time. Family members have been contacted. King County Medical Examiners are responsible for the determination of the death and notification to the public.
The streets were closed for more than five hours and are now open to traffic.
